  • The Shimpo DT-5TXR panel-mount tachometer with 100 to 240VAC power accepts input from a variety of sensors, includes selectable input signals, and accepts up to two output modules. This panel-mount tachometer accepts input from NPN open collectors, contact sensors, square wave sensors, and sine wave sensors, and is used for measuring rotational and linear speed from 10 to 99,999rpm with accuracy to or - 0.008 percent, as well as elapsed time and process time. Selectable input signals and display update time allow the operator to monitor, control, and analyze a wide variety of processes. It accepts up to two output modules for recordkeeping, data analysis, and/or process control. The six-digit red LED display with selectable decimal point and two secondary six-digit displays presents clear test results. The front cover is rated to IP 66 level of protection against dust and high-pressure water jets, and the panel measures 1/8 DIN according to Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61554 for industry-standard mounting. This tachometer tolerates a voltage range of 85 to 264VAC at 50/60Hz and can utilize an existing power transformer, and it provides DC voltage to power-compatible sensors. It comes with mounting adapters, mounting screws, a decal sheet, and instructions. This tachometer is suitable for measuring rotational speed and other measurements in mechanical or industrial engineering environments.

Tachometers measure the rate of rotation or surface speed of motors, conveyor belts, and other moving systems. Contact tachometers take measurements through direct contact with the moving surface, and can measure both rpm and surface speed. Typically, contact tachometers come with a range of attachments that can be used to measure speed on different kinds of rotary systems, which may include tips used for measuring shafts with a central hole or flat end surfaces, and rotary wheels for measuring conveyor belts. Noncontact tachometers take measurements from a distance using a beam of infrared light, and provide highly accurate measurements. Contact tachometers are an excellent choice for dirty and dusty environments; noncontact tachometers only calculate rpm but are considered safer because they do not require the operator to be in close contact with the moving surface. Contact/noncontact tachometers, also known as dual, or combination tachometers, can be used to take contact and noncontact measurements. Some tachometers can also take other types of measurements, such as count or frequency, while others can output data to a computer for analysis. Tachometers are used in applications such as automobile maintenance, mechanical engineering, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
