The TankBooster is a thermostatic mixing valve installed on top of new or existing water heaters to increase the available hot water in the water heater's tank, kill bacteria by increasing tank's temperature, while also preventing scalding by releasing water at a safe temperature.After installing the TankBooster using the enclosed instructions, increase the temperature of the water heater to 140°F (60°C). The TankBooster mixes the tank's Hot Water and cold water from the inlet to dilute the hot water down to a safe temperature of 120°F (49°C) before delivered to fixtures throughout the home. Mixing the hot water with cold water from the main supply means less hot water is required from the tank, therefore boosting the water heater's capacity and the amount of usable hot water. Increasing the tank's temperature to 140°F (60°C) or higher will kill bacteria present in the tank such as Legionella which can lead to illness such as Legionnaire's and Pontiac fever.
