In addition to zinc pyrithione (ZnP), NF Bar Soap also contains a high percentage of nourishing olive oil, moisturizing emu oil, and gently exfoliating oatmeal. ZnP is a form of zinc with antifungal and antibacterial properties. It is used to treat dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, and many other skin conditions. Olive oil is used in soaps as a natural moisturizer. One of the best ways to treat eczema is to keep the skin from drying out. The oil creates a protective barrier for your skin which aids in soft skin. Emu oil is a traditional Australian aboriginal medicine rendered from the fat of the emu. When applied topically, the oil has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, easing swelling and contributing to the relief of psoriasis and other skin conditions. Calendula, a plant extract, is beneficial for dry or damaged skin and also promotes fast healing and regeneration of the skin do to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Oatmeal is great for the skin. It has been used for treating skin irritations such as acne, dry skin while restoring the natural balance of moisture to the skin.
